Hey all!

I was just wondering if any of you have any advice/opinions regarding

using fermented foods vs probiotics in the struggle against candida.

This seems to be a never-ending issue for me. I did the whole candida

diet for several months just over a year ago, and was able to halt my

monthly vaginal yeast infections. I eat homemade sauerkraut every

day, but this doesn't seem to help. I just quit raw cow's milk kefir

recently and found that my skin health improved. Dairy allergy, I

guess. :(

Anyways, do you find that cultured foods are effective in treating

issues of candida/dysbiosis? I just started taking a human-strain

probiotic and am dealing with a bit of die-off, though my digestion

seems to have improved. This never happened with cultured foods.

Other than eating a couple of pieces of fruit and a handful of carrots

a day, along with sweet potatoes a few times a month, my diet has

always been mostly proteins and veggies. Within the last couple of

months, it seems that my montly yeast infections have made a comeback.

The only cause I can think of is the fact that I have had a copper

IUD for the past 5 years, which I just got removed. Evidently, for

some women the presence of copper in the system causes weakness in the

immune system. *sigh* So, I wonder if that has been allowing for

the overgrowth in my system.

Sorry for the novel! I used to post here quite a bit and then got

distracted with school. Now I get to play with food, recipes, and

health issues again. Yay!

Blessings,

a
