Guest guest
I would consider the possibility of a serious milk allergy, which has created gut dysbiosis, as well as systemic yeast overgrowth. With my youngest, who is 2, and has dealt with some food allergies, and diarrhea episodes, we've gone to cutting all sources of dairy, and adding non-dairy fermented foods to help rebuild her healthy intestinal bacteria. Also, LOTS of bone broth, which she loves, and coconut milk kefir, as well as jump starting her with the powdered form of Primal Defense. Our baby is getting better, but it's taking time to heal. HTH Rebekah wits end, please help I am having problems with my 1 year old. Backgroung info, my daughter was breastfed exclusivly until 6 weeks when Ipanicked (never nurced before) and gave her formula. Begining of the end, she would nurse less and less until she wouldn't nurse at all by 6 months, so had been on commercial formula (enfilac) from then on. She has never yet been too big on solids.Starting around Feb 1st, she developed terrible diahrea which lasted a total of almost 2 months!!! I took her to the hospital after 3 weeks. Doc said to give her nothing but pedialyte until the diahrea stopped, then no milk until it was gone for a week. I was to give her rice, applesauce, banana's and toast and yogurt between them. One cool thing she gave a recipe for homemade pedialyte which I made using rapadura instead of white sugar and celtic sea salt instead of regular table salt. She was on for 3 days when it didn't stop but slowed down at least so I started giving her the applesauce, LOTS of yogurt, bananas etc! , but no milk or formula. Afetr a week of almost normal poos I gave her some whole milk (as she was a year old she should be able to handle normal milk and I wanted her off the formula asap) Immediatly the diahrea started again. I tried the pedialyte for a few days again, but I could tell she was getting so hungry I couldn't do that anymore. So I took her to our family doctor who told me to put her on soy formula! I was like " over my dead body! " I made her homemade formula for a week but we just couldn't afford it any longer, I tried to just give her more solids but the diahrea came back, so i did relent and put her on the soy for 3 days. The diahrea stopped again. Now I have her on a lactose free milk and she is better, but while her poop is normal consistancy now, it is almost white!!! And she had developed a terrible yeast infection (from having diahrea for so long) that has not responded to 2 bowts of the doc's prescribed cream, overloading her with probiotics, o! r any natural remedy I have tried. I am going to have to take her back to a doctor again but I really wish I could find someone who knew what they were DOING!!!!!! Suze has asked her WAPF practitior group if there is a doctor in my area, but what if there isn't? Can someone please give me some advice, what is going on with her poop?! And what can I do to get rid of this yeast! It is all over her diaper area and now spreading to her back and tummy!!! Guest guest
, I hate to ask, but did your daughter get the full set of vaccinations, also Hep B at birth? Your daughter sounds so much like the kids I see on the vaccine-damaged lists...( Diarrhea is so typical of the Wakefield cases..MMR). I see, she definately has a problem with casein which is typical of these cases, usually goes back to the mercury content of the vaccines...Also with respect to casein, I have a study showing gastro hypersensitivity due to the casein in the DPT vaccine.. I would urge you to join the GFCF (gluten free casein free) lists and the autism treatment lists to glean info from them. The mothers have developed excellent protocols for short term diarrhea problems and long term gastro problems. Diarrhea is nothing to fool around with....I expect her bowels are inflamed and the first issue is to reduce the inflammation while trying to isolate the foods that are causing the inflammation... The white poop indicates bile problems... If you suspect vax reaction, which I highly suspect!, you can go to www.generationrescue.com where a father ( who was on NBC Today's Show recently) with an autistic child has set up a help system for medical problems relating to vax damage....You will find there a list of people throughout the States who will give you some personalised help. In the meantime read, Dr.Stepahanie Cave's " What Doctor's Don't Tell You About Vaccinations " BEFORE you have your child administered with any more vaccinations INCLUDING the MMR. Another vax could possibly send your child over the top... wits end, please help > > I am having problems with my 1 year old. Guest guest
No, no needle has every offended this little cherub! My son was fully vaxed until he was 2 when we found out about all the dangers and while it was a constant battle not to give in to the pressure to vax Liddy(especially when she got measles at 8 months) I have kept her vax free (but she always seems sick while my son is hardly EVER sick, so sometimes I do question my convictions) So whatever this is it is NOT vax related. I am afraid of going no dairy again as even when I give her lots of food, she is much worce when she is not on SOME kind of milk? This whole thing has me so stumpped. I have just LOADED her with good bugs and it hasn't help at all. All I want is for my baby to be HEALTHY!! Oh why did I EVER start her on garbage (aka formula) I can look back and see I had OODLES of milk, but when she wouldn't stop crying and would nurse and nurce and cry and cry (all it was was a growth spurt!!!) I pannicked. I tried and succeeded to get my milk supply back up, but once she had the bottle she would rather starve than nurce! I tried so hard to pump but I could never get more than an ounce! Next time I'll know better and never give even ONE bottle!! Unfortunatly that doesn't help THIS one :-(. Oh and I joined the CFGF list last night. > , > > I hate to ask, but did your daughter get the full set of vaccinations, also > Hep B at birth? Guest guest
, <Next time I'll know better and never give even ONE bottle!! Unfortunatly that doesn't help THIS one :-(. Considering how much emotional turmoil you're in right now, and not finding a good formula or a kind of food that will work, I'm wondering if you would consider trying to go back to nursing? That might seem impossible, but I've heard of grandmothers(!) whose milk came in, in response to a suckling infant. I know it would be hard on you, and maybe the baby, to switch back, but if you could manage it gradually, perhaps the two of you would find it the best solution. If you do decide to try, it would be important, I think, to put in the bottle something your baby did not like better than your milk. Do you have any idea why the original preference went the way it did? Maybe the sweetner used in the forumula? I hope you find a good solution soon. Guest guest
I think it was the ease of a bottle, it didn't seem to matter WHAT was in the bottle (except water, she hates water). It's been over 6 months since I nursed last, I thought I'd be pretty dry. Funny thing was a weeks or two ago she actually seemed to be trying to nurse (through my clothes) I was like " Hey! YOU decided you didn't want that anymore and let me dry up there silly! " I could try but all the reading I've done on relactating suggest if it IS possible, I would produce very little, but I will give it a shot, though I think another reason she prefered the bottle is it allowed her more freedom to move around, she always hated to sit still long enough to feed. > > Considering how much emotional turmoil you're in right now, and not finding > a good formula or a kind of food that will work, I'm wondering if you would > consider trying to go back to nursing? Guest guest
I agree, I hated her getting ANY formula (milk baced too, not just soy)but we could not afford all the ingrediants for the NT formula. As my hubby will soon be changing jobs, I will have access to free range eggs and raw milk (from a conventional dairy unfortunatly) again and my new kefir grains will be mailed on Monday, I plan on trying her on kefir with maybe some egg yolk added. Also as I willhave access to my natural food stores again, I will be able to get us eating organic liver again! I am also going to have her tested for intolerances to lactose, casien and gluten. > -- > > It sounds like your daughter's milk intolerance was brought on by the milk formula. > It is very rare to find kids who have intolerance to mum's milk. > But a lot of kids develop allergies (milk and others) who have been formula fed, either > entirely or partly. > > I don't know how milk formula is prepared, but it is anything but a gentle and kind > process - it is a heavily industrialised and mechanical process and who knows what it > does to the fats and proteins in the milk. > > Anyhow, have you tried the NT baby formula? > I believe one of the formulas uses raw milk, and another uses grated liver. > If your daughter has severe intolerance to milk, try the liver formula. > That will give her several important nutrients. > > If she does ok on yogurt, chances are she will be ok with kefir as well. > Try that. > > I would stay away from the lactose-free milk (ultra pasteurised or not). > It is again a very industrial product and something you are better off not eating - try > kefir instead. Guest guest
, my youngest absolutely loved sauerkraut at that age (homemade). I pureed it and mixed it with finely ground beef. She ate gobs and gobs of the stuff. It's a cheap food. Just a thought. Elaine
Guest guest
Hey now, THAT's a good idea! And on another positive note, I tried giving her yogurt " straite " , no sweetening and SHE ATE IT! I am relived to stop sweeting it! > , my youngest absolutely loved sauerkraut at that age (homemade). I > pureed it and mixed it with finely ground beef. She ate gobs and gobs of the > stuff. Guest guest
- Have you tried tea tree oil or lavender oil diluted in a little olive oil or some other mild oil? Tea tree oil is an excellent antifungal- works a lot better than a lot of prescriptions that I have tried. For some reason I am like the queen of wierd skin infections- I have been ever since I was a baby, then in high school I worked in a pet store and with handicapped kids and I picked up all kinds of odd stuff that just kept coming back and coming back. But when things my funky skin growths come back, a bunch of vitamin C and some tea tree oil always seems to do the trick. I never dilute tea trea oil- I almost always use it straight from the bottle. I've even used it on newts, salamanders, tropical fish, squirrels, and a snake. It's worked great for all of them as well. Just a suggestion. Oh, and have you tried goat milk for your daughter? Cow's milk kind of bugs my stomach sometimes, but goat's milk never seems to be a problem. Hope that your little girl is feeling better soon. Oh!!! I thought of one more thing! Cloth or disposible diapers? I know if I use disposable menstrual pads I get really bad skin rash/ infection things going, so I use cloth and that has totally solved that problem. Guest guest
I have tried tea tree oil, hasn't really helped at all. Though her skin seems to really be drying out so I'm thinking of cutting that back. And I was using cloth (seems to have lost many of them in the move!!!) but sadly more disposables ans I am trying to find more of the cloth ones! --- In , " Bertie " <bjvarmuzek@y...> wrote: > > - Have you tried tea tree oil or lavender oil diluted in a > little olive oil or some other mild oil?
