Guest guest
Bob, I think forgetting to make dinner is an excellent idea! He learns fast when *his* food is involved! LOL I have a sign next to it right now, since I kinda wanted some sunshine on the sprouts I didn't want to put it on top of it. I'm afraid he might not see it, although after the fit I made last night I hope he remembers I told him I put the sprouts and a sign there. And to think, just the day before yesterday I was so happy because he liked the bone broth I made SO MUCH he asked me to cook it as often as possible! I feel like its always one step forward and two back when it comes to breaking him of common american nutrition and food concepts. He did decide to apologize yesterday, but not without a few comments about how strange it is that I'm sprouting corn and how its not the time to plant stuff now (I tried to explain to him you eat it instead of planting it, but we'll see how well that stuck.) It really makes me wonder if anyone else on this list had issues converting their SO to a new eating style? Thanks! -Lana > Put a big sign in front of it. My husband sabotaged almost every thing I've tried over the years - of course, most of that was low-fat vegetarian type stuff. So, when I wanted to do NT, he just thought it was another one of my wacky ideas! LOL. He thought my leaving stuff out on the counter for days was scary, especially since I was planning to feed it to our kids. But, then he got IBS problems and was more open to dietary changes. Then, when Maker's Diet came out, I convinced him to read it and it all made sense to him (NT is a hard book to read!). He also absolutely loves homemade sauerkraut. So, maybe just keep trying to find the things your husband does like - like the broth, etc. - and he'll gradually come around (hopefully). :-) Steph
Guest guest
Steph, I don't know if I'm going to get him to read anything... lol But I think you're right: I just have to be patient and keep trying him on new things. I found out a local store stocks Organic Valley's raw cheddar and that was a hit with him. Organic Valley used to be all grass fed - but now that's not written on the label so I'm not so sure whats going on with them. The milk I buy still tastes like its grass fed, it just isn't advertised on the bottle anymore... I also found grass fed butter (I dunno if the milk was raw or not, it just says " milk " ) that I will be trying him on soon. I've never seen butter so golden! It looks like margerine almost... but its so good I had to stop myself from eating it plain. I also bought some freshly pressed unpasteurized apple cider - going to try the simple cider recipe in Wild Fermentation. I just put it out on the counter 20 mins ago and I'm already antsy for it to be done. Waiting 5 days for it to ferment is going to be difficult! I'm pretty sure hubby will like this, as he is addicted to the apple cider doughnuts the orchard makes. Sincerely, Lana M.
