Beginning the Process

I'm just starting out in the process. I've gotten through week 1 of the

Full-filled book. I love all the Dig In exercises I have done so far. They have

really made me think about what habits I want to change, symptoms, etc. It's

been really helpful to me since I've never done anything to this extent before.

I am trying to be more thoughtful about when and what I'm eating. I've also been

trying to notice how hungry I am when I find myself in the kitchen or reaching

for a snack. There have already been some times where I've wandered into the

kitchen and opened a cabinet, or the fridge, grabbed something, and then checked

in with my stomach and put the item back. I've always known that I tend to snack

when I'm bored or eat because it's meal time (lunch, dinner, etc.) and not

strictly because I'm hungry. Even just in the first week of this program I'm

noticing the specifics of these habits, and others, and working to change them.

I think it's going to be good in the long run.

The only thing that I find that bothers me a little is that I feel like I'm

constantly thinking about food more than I was before. The thing I'm not sure

about, is if this is actually happening, or if I am simply noticing how much I

think about food because I'm more aware. It's just weird for me to think about.

I don't want food, my eating, or my weight to be the focus of my day or feel

like it has power over my life. Since I'm new to this group, I'd like to hear

about some other people's experiences about when they first started the program

and any insights on what I've posted.

Thanks for your support,
