Guest guest
Is it the stuff made by All Stars (?) bakery in Ontario or is more local? I've had that stuff and it's very very tasty. I've had that stuff and it's very very tasty. Let me go get the bottle. Most of it is in Russian, which I don't speak a lick of... nope this is a product of the Ukraine, Kvas Monastyrskiy. Looking at the label further, it appears to be made from " kvas concentrate " (never a good sign) but I was still curious enough to buy it. Guest guest
Wow, that's a lot less local! But if it's made in the Ukraine, that's a valid import given that it's kvass. However, I'd agree about kvass concentrate not being ideal. The All Stars stuff has some Russian on the label; I think it's made by fairly recent immigrants, and it's got an excellent rich taste. Fairly sweet and it has a few raisins floating in it. I wish I it were readily available here. The one time I tried to make kvass myself was a disaster.
