Good Afternoon Everyone!

I have just finished the Dig In assignment for Week 2 on identifying the

positive intent of my eating behaviors and being overweight.  I set the

intention to easily identify what my positive intent is so that it might help my

weight release achievements.

What came to mind was that when I'm overeating; it is completely unmindful.  I

don't put any thought into it while I'm doing it.  My mind is empty .  As I am

shoveling the food into my mouth; my focus is on that and not on anything else;

including the guilt and shame that will surely follow when I'm done.  My mind is

totally at rest.  Rest is one of my positive intents.

The other thing that came to me is how often times overweight people can be very

invisible.  My being overweight doesn't attract sexual attention from men and

makes me invisible as a sexual being.  At least that is what I believe.  What

that does for me is it keeps me safe.  It goes along with the nightmares I have

of being chased by someone.  I'm always trying to find a place to hide.  In the

same way, weight gives me a place to hide and be safe.  Safety is the second of

my positive intents.

I find this very revealing.  " Rest and being safe " were two things I definetly

didn't have as a kid.  I do remember hiding in the middle of  hay bales from my

stepfather and feeling for a brief while that I was safe and didn't have to work

while I was hiding there.

So as I move forward, I hope the book gives me tools as to what to do with all

of this.  I am enjoying learning more and more about myself.
