Guest guest
hi, my husband and i are family practitioners who now have an adolescent/adult medicine and addiction medicine practice. we work out of our home/farm in a rural area of the hudson valley. we love what we do and now, starting our third year in a relatively unique setting, are hoping to see some financial rewards. our primary drawback is that we have no coverage (we're in a designated hpsa). we are looking for someone(s...?) who might be in a state of transition and doesn't need a large income to come join us. we have a nice bungalow on three acres of land that this person(s) could live in and on that property there is also a writer's studio and a very large (4.5 car-size) space that could work well for someone into light industry/music/art etc. our practice is heavy on geriatrics (i.e. medicare) and addiction medicine (we are suboxone providers) so we spend a lot of time with each patient and generally see no more than 10/day. we also are near a critical access hospital so we continue to do hospital medicine but at a non-ICU/CCU intensity. although we are allopathically trained, we are very open to " alternative " modalities and work with a massage therapist. in the spring/summer we hope to complete a labyrinth for our patients' use. we've also tried to make our office as " green " as possible. our part of the country is very beautiful: we're in the foothills of the catskills and quite near the schwangunks so there's every type of mountain sport along with kayaking/canoeing etc. this area is alive with music and there are more artists (population-wise) in our county than anywhere else in the country outside of nyc (which is 2 hours away). if you're interested in a change, this is a unique opportunity! Guest guest
I like the sound of your practice...where exactly are you located? I am not actually looking to join a practice now, but I do plan to open one about 45 minutes north of Albany (sometime between November 08 and Spring of 09). I am currently halfway through my chief resident year in Family Medicine in Rochester, NY, and will have about 12-14 weeks of rotations to make up in July-October (due to maternity leave and other family leave). Some of that is elective time and I might be interested in spending a short time (days?) seeing how you run your practice, and integrate addiction medicine. I plan to get certified in suboxone by then. I'm also training in acupuncture, and plan to include that in my practice as well. I'm not sure what sort of coverage you are looking for, but it may be possible that in my future practice I could at least do phone coverage...The idea of a labyrinth is great - I was thinking about putting one on my property too! I own a kayak, but don't get out much...most of the things you mentioned caught my eye. Let me know what you think,-jesshi, my husband and i are family practitioners who now have an adolescent/adult medicine and addiction medicine practice. we work out of our home/farm in a rural area of the hudson valley. we love what we do and now, starting our third year in a relatively unique setting, are hoping to see some financial rewards. our primary drawback is that we have no coverage (we're in a designated hpsa). we are looking for someone(s...?) who might be in a state of transition and doesn't need a large income to come join us. we have a nice bungalow on three acres of land that this person(s) could live in and on that property there is also a writer's studio and a very large (4.5 car-size) space that could work well for someone into light industry/music/art etc. our practice is heavy on geriatrics (i.e. medicare) and addiction medicine (we are suboxone providers) so we spend a lot of time with each patient and generally see no more than 10/day. we also are near a critical access hospital so we continue to do hospital medicine but at a non-ICU/CCU intensity. although we are allopathically trained, we are very open to "alternative" modalities and work with a massage therapist. in the spring/summer we hope to complete a labyrinth for our patients' use. we've also tried to make our office as "green" as possible.our part of the country is very beautiful: we're in the foothills of the catskills and quite near the schwangunks so there's every type of mountain sport along with kayaking/canoeing etc. this area is alive with music and there are more artists (population-wise) in our county than anywhere else in the country outside of nyc (which is 2 hours away). if you're interested in a change, this is a unique opportunity!
