What about lanolin?

Judith Alta

-----Original Message-----

Hi all,

Anybody familiar with Guaifenesein therapy?

Quick-n-dirty: I need to make a skin oil for a client containing no

plant oil, gels or extracts.

Ghee is what I'm thinking, scented with...eh....a bouillon cube?

Also thinking of rendering some tallow, but I'd like to know what

ideas you all may have.

More details here:

This client is diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She has seen several

doctors and transitioned her diet admirably--though nowhere near my

standard--and in desperation was on the verge of getting her extensive

dental work removed when she began Dr. St. Amand's protocol. She has

felt considerable improvement since beginning the treatment with the

bonus that it is covered by her health insurance.

Difficulty: No plant oils, gels or extracts may be used in her

personal care products. This restriction limits her to some pretty

heinous substances.

I am unfamiliar with the treatment logic, but am dubious about any

preference for petroleum byproducts over plant products. She is also

unhappy with the Eucerin or whatever she'd been instructed to use and

is asking me for something more effective.

Additionally, I would like to hear any wisdom on this topic in

general--with the idea that I might pass on a bit of it to my client,

if that's okay.

Let it rain on me!

Ah, Judith--so obvious! I had considered it but got distracted by the

tallow idea. I'm off to the store, now...

I think lanolin by itself may be a little sticky though. What about lard

(the plain kind), lanolin and beewax for lip balm and elbow and knee balm?

I don't know, you need to thin it with something that is more liquid at room

temp. what about butter? Hmmm . . .

I think I could deal with these ingredients:

Butter

Lanolin

Lard

Oh what about deodorized Cod Liver Oil?

Actually, someone sent me a link listing these ing. as okay:

shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin, beeswax, Candelilla wax;

carnauba wax, rice bran oil, wheat germ (*Low-sal) oil, carnauba wax,

soy (*Low-sal) oil, mineral oil (liquid paraffin), any animal oils

(emu, tallow, lard, mink, lanolin), petroleum jelly, emulsifying wax.

Seems quite do-able now. Slather in cocoa butter and bring on the healing!

but how *rock-n-roll* would it be to use tallow/lard?

Apparently she needs to avoid salicylates and the above listed have

none or very little.

Much gratitude,

B.
