Guest guest
Knitting has taught me many life lessons. First I finally understand the old cliches of " stitch by stitch, row by row, " and " it'll come out in the wash, " (I view wash as being more of blocking). Other things I've learned from sticks and string: 1) No matter how well you plan something, mistakes happen. You can rip back and start over, or continue on - perhaps creating something brand new in the process. If it doesn't go your way, why fight it? Acceptance of the way things are does not make you weak, but keeps you stronger to fight the important battles. 2) I don't have to knit a whole sweater in one sitting. Babysteps, working here and there, eventually it will get done. My mother taught me the " all or nothing " method of living, which doesn't work for me. Knitting has helped retrain that faulty programming. 3) It's okay to bend and be loose. You can manipulate string over 10,000 times and it does not break. Why should I break over one thing? 4) A firm foundation in life leads to beautiful adventures. Having something to hold on to gives you time and space to rest a bit. 5) Twisting your perspective creates new thoughts, and understanding. Blessings to all.
