Once at the beach, she yelled at me because I accidentally had gotten an arm in front of her shot of my neice feeding the sea gulls. Then she was angry because other beach-goers were just strolling along the waters edge-because then you could see them in the background. When I was little she would pose me and do it over and over to get just the right picture. Now she will tear up any pictures that she thinks are ugly of her, no matter who else happens to be in it or how much anyone likes it. She thinks she owns her image I suppose. Still to this day, my little niece will put on a big toothy smile any time she sees you starting to take a picture of her. Nada taught her this from the countless " sessions " they had together. I always try to get my niece to giggle or say something funny, I would rather her be relaxed when I try to take pictures of her. Most of the time now though, she'll swipe the camera and take pictures of everyone's feet or of the floor or cieling, or the " wrong side " of the cat and dog! I have quite a collection of her work! I have quite a collection of her work! > Yup, we also have the Perfect Video collection ... well Dad took it for Mom. Basically I always considered their visits " Photo Ops. " Lot's of pictures and lot's of posed stuff. The weird thing is looking at them. I see smiles in them, but when you catch my Nada unawares, she has this meanish look about her. Like she is NEVER PLEASED. I am still sending her tons of pics of Mallory bc I promised myself I would, but we're not really speaking right now so I am not writing anything along with the pics. Strange. It's like being in an alternate reality. And the hyper critical stuff re: pics is funny too with my Nada. She hates any that show her looking bad and is super critical of all flaws in all pictures. Oddly, we never had a lot of photos of us around the house as I grew up. There was the yearly nightmare photo session at the gallery where we were supposed to pose as the perfect family. God I hated those events. I especially hated the teen year ones as I was so unhappy during those years. And to see those fake family pictures around always makes me gag! I like to take a lot of pictures of family and friends and events. But I prefer non-posed pics. I take a lot of candid shots where kids/people are just having fun. I don't worry about the quality as much as showing the story. I also scrapbook a lot. I love journaling the story of our lives. I also love having photos out in frames all over the house. I love the candid shots of Mallory being pushed in a swing by my friend's daughter or of playground shots. Just life shots.
