Nice information from the AAFP list posted by another doc.

Discussion on global periods and which procedures it applies to.

This is Medicare, so possibly private insurances would be different, but it at least gives a good idea.

Some examples below.

Discussion was about 10060 - simple abscess I & D -- 10 day global period.

For those doing vasectomy, the global period for Medicare is 90 days.

The 2008 Global Period schedule is located on pages 66410 and beyond in the reference below. RVUs and other information are available on these pages as well.

In response to the initial question, a simple I & D has a 10 day global period for Medicare and many insurance plans follow the lead of the government, especially if it saves them money..
