Guest guest
I buy my coconut oil from TT (although most recent batch of VCCO was from WF) but decided to look locally for the red palm oil. I went to a local Asian store that is well supplied and bought 1 gal. of Ola Ola Carotino for $12.29 - quite a savings. It's very orange, a product of Malaysia and is pure palm oil. Interesting stuff with quite an unusual taste (and smell). I need to take if more often but DH takes it daily along with his VCCO. > Greetings, > > Has anybody used the Tropical Traditions Palm Oil? > > I am trying to decide whether it is worth paying the international shipping or not, > especially since they don't have the gallon size for it like the VCO. > > Or any other recommended brands? > > Thanks, > Pratick > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
I buy red palm oil from http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/natural_palm_oil.htm It’s wonderfully smooth, mellow – my children ask for spoonfuls, smacking their mouths. I also feed it to all my parrots (a must for African Greys), and use it for all my sautéing where color changes don’t matter (orange onions do have their own charm, though). The taste is a mild beta-carotene taste (carrot taste) – not at all strong, not at all objectionable. That hasn’t been the case in other palm oils. I’m thrilled with this one. Sharon, NH Greetings, Has anybody used the Tropical Traditions Palm Oil? I am trying to decide whether it is worth paying the international shipping or not, especially since they don't have the gallon size for it like the VCO. Or any other recommended brands? Thanks, Pratick
Guest guest
Is palm oil a medium chain fatty acid like coconut oil? Is it as or more stable at higher temperatures? Does it have any other benefits along the same lines? Thanks. ~Robin
Guest guest
I bought palm butter from them and found it pretty disgusting. I do like their coconut oil. So, I would recommend to try a little before ordering a large amount. -- > > I buy red palm oil from > http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/natural_palm_oil.htm > > > > It's wonderfully smooth, mellow – my children ask for spoonfuls, smacking > their mouths. No, and neither is coconut oil. Coconut oil consists of roughly 2/3 medium-chain fatty acids by weight (assuming that a " medium " chain has 10-14 carbon atoms), but, like all oils, it's made up of triglycerides and is not itself a " medium-chain fatty acid. " Palm oil has only about 1% medium-chain fatty acids, the bulk of the rest being palmitic and oleic acid, with an additional 10% linoleic acid and 5% stearic acid. http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ > Is it as or more stable at higher temperatures? I imagine it's about the same as tallow in that respect, or perhaps a bit more so because of the high antioxidant content. > Does it have any > other benefits along the same lines? It's not likely to do a lot of peroxidizing, and it's high in antioxidants if unrefined, so it's better than corn oil. But it doesn't have significant amounts of lauric acid, if that's what you mean. I think it would be a good addition to the diet, though not necessary. Corn oil I would consider a net negative. Chris
Guest guest
I haven't used palm oil, but I met a university student from Africa who had the most perfect teeth and broad dental arches that I've ever seen, outside of Dr. Price's book " Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. " I asked him what kind of oils his family used when he was growing up. He said it was palm oil. I was impressed.
