FWIW, my experience with acupuncture is that it worked for pain and pain-induced

tension, the insertion pinch was negligible, and it released an unbelievable

amount of water. My aunt found it the only way to remain lucid while receiving

some help with cancer pain. My cousin cried during treatments and then also

peed great quantities, and it did help his sciatica. His wife, who was hoping

acupuncture would treat her infertility, suddenly realized after months of

treatments that she could spend the fifty bucks a week on shoes and cleaning

help and be much happier. So she did.
