Guest guest
Robin- >Whoa! That is just too much and I'm finally out of this one.. , it is >quite obvious that you have never had to support a person for any length of >time in a hospital setting. No kidding. When you've actually had to do that -- and when you've actually seen the awful indignity of an ailing body being kept alive by machinery -- the entire subject takes on a very different appearance. Of course I can understand parents and other family members not wanting to let go and clinging to the illusion of consciousness, but I wish they'd try to take a step back and ask themselves whether that's really the life they'd want for their loved ones. I suppose that perspective comes more easily (and at the same time with more pain) for those of us who understand the role of nutrition in health and therefore realize how much damage the medical industry has done and how much responsibility it bears for people's situations in many of these cases. Both of my grandparents (who were more parents to me than my actual parents for much of my life) died this way. It's appalling. -
Guest guest
>I'm confused. If the government pays for health care in Canada, then why are >Americans allowed to go to Canadian clinics? Do you mean that you went to a >private clinic in Canada? > > Americans can go to the clinics, but they have to pay. The rates weren't bad though. One advantage of their system is that there is very little paperwork. By using the " single payer " system, they were able to merge all their computer systems into ONE computer system, which saved a ridiculous amount of money (it was written up at the time in one of the computer journals). They also don't have these endless, expensive " wars " over who pays for what. People talk about the frivolous lawsuit issue, but a bigger, day to day issue for hospitals is paperwork and coordination. And fundraising, for the ones that provide care to anyone (like Children's).
