Guest guest
I have been using it for about a year now. I think a Renaissance system with printer. Does not interface with AC. It prints reports and I scan them in. Don't remember the cost--will check. I recently had a couple of patients who had incessant coughing, normal lungs, no S/Sx of infection. Spirometry showed mild obstruction, so I could send them out with appropriate meds. It also comes in useful for me to show my smokers in denial that their lungs are affected. Also I got a quality measure notice from an insurance company with a couple of patient names with Dx of asthma who " were noted to not have claims for spirometry in the past year " . I know some patients will not go to get PFTs done even though they have asthma/COPD, and I feel doing it in office makes sure they get it done. I do not rely on it for any substantial revenue, reimbursement is about $27-35 per test. --Padma > > i am considering adding spirometry. > i am using AC for emr. > is anyone in similar circumstances? > thoughts, plusses, minuses, cost, consumables, calibration, quality, etc. > thanks in advance. > LL > > > --------------------------------- > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I bought the Puritan for $1000. At the rate of reimbursement, it will take 40 tests to pay for itself, and I do about 3 a month. Neither our EKG nor spirometry have an interface, we scan the results, which has never been an issue. Spirometry is nice to have, not nearly as important as EKG, but still nice. Patients like not having to make a separate appointment somewhere else to get it done. There's no downside except waiting to pay it off. The disposable tubes don't cost enough to influence your decision. Calibration is easy, the rep comes out to demonstrate it once. Quality is good. lawrence lyon wrote: i am considering adding spirometry. i am using AC for emr. is anyone in similar circumstances? thoughts, plusses, minuses, cost, consumables, calibration, quality, etc. thanks in advance.
