Guest guest
My husband loves granola. I was planning on trying kishk, but if he doesn't like it, would it work to soak rolled oats properly, then dry them in a dehydrator? Guest guest
I have tried this, but haven't had great success. Would love to hear how others do it. The granola has turned out too soft for me. Also, it has always had the taste of the parchment paper I have dehydrated it on! I'm sure it can be done... > My husband loves granola. Guest guest
We haven't done oats in a while, but I did make a homemade granola cereal. I soaked the oats, then dried in oven on low (just like a dehydrator) then I mixed in the following: unsweet coconut flakes chopped crispy almonds chopped crispy pecans raisins, chopped dates, chopped cinnamon to taste Mix all ingredients together, melt some coconut oil, and stir in. Put all on a cookie sheet and lightly brown in the oven. Serve cold or warm, with raw milk. The biggest problem was that my kids and dh liked it so much, they went through it like crazy. And it's certainly not low carb ! But it was GOOD Rebekah would this work (soaked oat granola?) , My husband loves granola. Please let me know how it goes, though, since my son loves granola, too. I made a batch of granola following a recipe that was posted here some time back, but it involved soaking oat *groats*, dehydrating them, and them putting them through a flaker in a grain mill before proceeding with the granola recipe. It came out delicious, but was time consuming to make. I guess it could one of those things to make a BIG batch of and store in the freezer, taking out smaller quantities as needed. I like the cold cereal idea, since it is a fast breakfast and can be had with lots of raw milk! Vivian
Guest guest
I forgot to add to my earlier post, you have to drain the oats well, before you dehydrate them ! Guest guest
, I have done this often for oats that I use in cookies. My husband likes the oats prepared this way much better than just using regular oats. I have used them to make granola too. I store them in a jar in the fridge and they last forever. Merry Christmas!
