Guest guest
I do feel for you. Wanted to tell you about some of the medical testing Mum has been through recently. She's ahd bone density tests, xrays, ECGs, eye tests, had bloods taken on several occasions, back scans a gastroscopy, and these are only the ones I remember. She willingly, although with trepidation, went to these appointments, because she knew she was feeling sore and thought it would help. Don't know what I'd have done if she had refused. I can tell you that none of these procedures showed up any thing wrong, apart from slightly low bone density for a woman of her age (got her a prescription for milk chocolate for this lol). All the testing is finished, and I'm determined that she will not be put through all this again. The gastroscopy was interesting. They administer a sedative to carry out this procedure. I have had it and, even under sedative, I found it extremely unpleasant. My flatmate (roommate for our American friends) also had it and chose not to have a sedative and she said it was the worst experience of her life. I was therefore wary, but the Dr assured me she wouldn't remember or experience discomfort. Mum had the procedure last Thursday and didn't remember anything afterwards, and still hasn't had any side effects from it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if your Mom has to have a procedure under sedative, you shouldn't worry about any side effects. Hope things work out ok, and thinking of you in this difficult time. Hello its been a while Hello all, I have been lurking lately too. My mother has a big lump in her throat which bothers her swallowing from time to time. Her Dr. ordered a sonogram of her thyroid and neck. She did not cooperate at all and they only got a little bit of the thyroid in which they found a fixed lump. I am waiting for the Dr. to call with further details. I am unsure where to go with this. She will not cooperate for nothing and I am afraid to have her sedated to do all the testing needed. So I am torn between putting her through (Hell) by sedating her and getting all the testing done or just letting things be because I know that is what she would want. Sorry I haven't posted but my life has been a mess here lately with alot going on. You all are in my thoughts and prayers every day.
