That's the weirdness all right!

I had the same issue: I haven't heard it discussed, but I think

one becomes " prolactin insensitive " like one becomes " glucose insensitive " .

Oh, I had the big fat belly too. At the time though, I wasn't ill

at all, felt fine.

If it were, say, tuna fish causing all this, not bread, there

wouldn't be any controversy! Docs would just say, " don't

eat gluten " like they tell pregnant women " don't eat tuna

fish " . But wheat is so beloved, so central to our culture, it's

like giving up automobiles or blue jeans or football or something.

Even some of the research doctors believe it's not good to

tell someone who is basically " ok " that they are gluten intolerant,

because it is so " devastating " to their social life. And the Catholic

Church refuses to have a non-wheat host for communion, because

it HAS to be wheat bread. Some historian is going to have a field day

with this one!

Personally I couldn't connect that *wheat* would be a problem: it's

always been the " ok " food while everything else is suspect. Along

with milk, the other " basic " . Ironically, migraines for me come from milk, and

my brother

now says he's pretty sure his canker sores come from milk too (not

that he's giving up dairy, much less gluten).
