It's very confusing to see the subject line and not be able to fit into the continuity of the thread. It is MUCH easier to follow threads, not just with a thread-organizing system like what Gmail has, but psychological organization as well, for the subject line to change *only* when there is a *major* change in subject that makes the current subject line no longer valid.
