Subject: What Have I Learned?

Hello Everyone,

This topic appeals to the teacher in me. " What did you learn today? "

This question was asked a future writer each evening when the family

gathered around the supper table. So, I ask myself this question on

the last day of the year.

I have learned there are many resources, people, and willing minds and

hearts to help me grow, learn and understand and most importantly

accept, the challenges that faced me this past year.

My God/HP/Universe brought me to Affirmations to De-Stress; tapes of

Dr. Wayne Dyer's books appeared in the thrift store I frequent; books

by Caroline Myss also appeared in the same thrift store; and most

importantly, I felt heard and understood by the fellow members of

Affirmations. Additional blessings of people, ideas, gifts are too

numerous to mention but appear on my Gratitude Lists.

What have I learned?

I have learned also that you can not change anyone, but you can teach

yourself to be better to your self. Once you learn that you can only change

yourself ,you start to treat yourself better. You start to listen to that

self talk and start telling yourself not to agree with the negative talk.

And that in itself starts trickling on to others and they treat you

different. Treat yourself with love and respect and others will also do the

same to you.

It is hard to deal with people that don't treat themselves well and try to

push their negative power onto you. And with me, when you are trying to

remember the healthy choices it can be easy to slip back in the old ways. My

goals for 2006 are to slow down and work on the development of myself. Not

to worry about what everyone thinks and do things that make me happy. But

that does leave room for me to get too consumed in that and I hope I can

keep my whole life in perspective. I hope I can live a balanced life from

now on.
