Guest guest
While we're parsing out what a - theist is or isn't to religiosity, the pantheist http://www.pantheism.net/ hasn't come up. Mikhail Gorbachev is not defined an atheist there. Think of Russia's science progress. Non recognition of natural process and law, experience, choice, result, possible consequence and organized religion's paradigms to me is an individual without a theism. Anathema comes closer but again definition is confined to religion's paradigm and does not look at process, experience etc. a·nath·e·ma n. pl. a·nath·e·mas 1.. A formal ecclesiastical ban, curse, or excommunication. 2.. A vehement denunciation; a curse: " the sound of a witch's anathemas in some unknown tongue " (iel Hawthorne). 3.. One that is cursed or damned. 4.. One that is greatly reviled, loathed, or shunned: " Essentialisma belief in natural, immutable sex differencesis anathema to postmodernists, for whom sexuality itself, along with gender, is a 'social construct' " ( Kaminer). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Late Latin anathema, doomed offering, accursed thing, from Greek, from anatithenai, anathe-, to dedicate : an , ana- + tithenai, to put; see dh- in Indo-European Roots.] Wanita

Yoga may well be pantheistic philosophy, which I had never considered before. On second thought, after browsing through the Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, by BKS Iyengar, I must conclude yoga is more of a panentheistic philosophy: I.25 tatra niratisayam sarvajnabijam " God is the unexcelled seed of all knowledge. " And Guruji's commentary to I.26: " He is all and all is He. " I like an immanent and transcendent God, as I think there is more than we can see of the universe, since we are bound in space-time conceptually, yet our equations are not. The immanent/transendent, numinous Deity seems to fit me and my conception of the world better than any other God-concepts I have found or have found me. The words I wrap around my experiences seem to be most closely mirrored by the still existing words of Hinduism and a few in the Germanic/Islandic Sagas. Connie H. Most folks get stuck in the view they grow up learning without ever even considering other possibilities. Yoga often follows the teachings of Jesus better than the Christian churches, imhe. Oh, and Eastern psychology is different than Western thought as well - citta and manas vs. the mind. Deanna
