I really enjoy The Sopranos and my new favorite is Curb Your Enthusiasm...Larry is hilarious. It's like Seinfeld except less staged...much of the show is improvised. your new website is great. So that's your sole income now? I read your thing about the masters course thing and it sounds great. If your site is generating enough revenue to support you in just a month, that's phenomenal. The resolution of high-def is 1920x1080 or 1280x720, depending on the network. DVD is at best on the order of 720x480, and as it's meant for NTSC display, its encoding method is also dramatically inferior. Also, your computer monitor most likely isn't calibrated properly for video display, so while you may like watching DVDs that way, I promise you that it's possible to achieve much better picture quality. My monitor is set to 1280x1024 so it's more than enough for DVD quality. A standard DVD played on an HDTV is not going to look any better than a standard DVD played on my monitor for a given screen size. I'm using WinDVD which has supposedly the best DVD decoder for PC and my refresh rate is 90Hz, which isn't synched to the frame rate of the video, true, (although it's *almost* a multiple of 29.97 frames per second, NTSC standard) but it is plenty fast. The playback is smooth and the picture quality is excellent, even from up close. Sure, it's not home-cinema caliber but I was merely saying that it's much better than the small TV I used to have. Curb Your Enthusiasm sounds familiar but I haven't seen it and don't remember specifically what it was supposed to be about or who's in it. I do enjoy Seinfeld though, so I've probably seen it. Fiscal conservatism and an unemployment check pay the bills ;-) That said it's doing phenomenal compared to what everyone else I talked to who is successful now did in their first month. Larry , the creator of Seinfeld and one-time stand-up comic, stars as himself. The show is just about his life and his trials and tribulations. The first few episodes were a little hard to get used to because it's *so* unscripted and different from other shows. The later episodes of the first season are better, and I've heard that the second season is really good.
