[Chris] Right now I'm juicing garlic, and this is working very well for me.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't think I would find anything with

raw garlic on it palatable, so I wouldn't bother ruining an entire dish. I'm

sure that others DO like raw garlic on their food,

but it's not for me.

[MikeP] Strange, your choices of prepositions there. Why not put raw garlic

_in_ your food instead of _on_ it? In other words, I recommend blending some

minced raw garlic in complex salads or soups where the flavor will only come

through faintly and surely be acceptable to you. Same goes for raw liver, by

the way. Given the vast amounts of discussion on making raw liver palatable

this group has seen in the past, it's strange so few people don't just mince

up some raw liver and toss it with a big salad of greens, other veggies,

fruits, herbs, etc. I once served a salad like this to a (non-vegetarian)

friend and didn't mention there was any raw liver in it. It never even came

up and she liked it, except she wasn't happy when she mentioned something

(positive, I think) about " the mushrooms " and I said " Those aren't

mushrooms; they're snails " . I don't mind eating plain raw liver or raw

garlic myself, but I still often use this method anyway.

Fatty liver? All the liver I get is quite lean, and fat in a liver

generally (always?) indicates health problems in the animal.

[MikeP] According to the USDA data, beef liver is in the neighborhood of

25% fat by calories, which is neither especially fatty nor especially lean.

The texture of liver is somewhat fatty I suppose.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. Some people do advocate low-fat

diets which dip below 30% of calories from fat, but I wouldn't call 25% fat

by calories (meaning a lot less than that by weight) " fatty " .

Huh. I eat a couple pounds raw every week, and to me, it's anything

but. Maybe also a matter of taste, but I'd call tongue a fatty meat, not

liver.
