Best diet to prevent GD and can be even made more NT friendly is the

Brewer's Diet. Very high in protein.

Check it out at http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/ This diet is also been linked

to a reduction of pre-eclampsia.

By eating the candy she is probably inducing a hypo-glycemic reaction and

that is what caused her to have the dizzy spells. I tend toward the

hypo-glycemia end. I have never had GD but I still fail the tests due to my

extreme glycemic reaction to pure sugar.

HTH.

I just found out yesterday that a friend here in the office, who is

pregnant with her first child, has been diagnosed with gestational

diabetes.

One of the other gals here told me that her habit has been to snack on

candy all day. Yesterday she didn't do that and felt too dizzy to even

think of driving home.

She is supposed to see the conventional dietition later this week, but

I have been thinking about what information I might share with her that

wouldn't just scare her off. I suspect she has pretty convention/SAD

eating habits right now.

Any suggestions?

Remove the grains from her diet. Try replacing them with potatoes or rice or

the squash family. Eat more protein.
