Guest guest Posted March 4, 2005 Report Share Posted March 4, 2005 Dennis, Political discussions frequently pop up on this list because our subject matter is, no way around it, absolutely political. They tend to stray into tangents and I think it would be good for people like myself who are interested in discussing those tangents to their death to do so on nt-politics. However, there is a certain degree of political discussion that DOES BELONG on this list. Some of it is not just distant theory that relates to food because it relates to everything, but is of more immediate importance. For example, the WAPF community is fighting legal battles on raw milk. That is political. While these smaller battles are going on now, a wave of raw milk legalization or battles thereof could be a major event in the forseeable future. In that case, there are political questions of immediate importance. Should the safety of raw milk be regulated by government? Or should it be regulated by private certification? This is directly related to the POLITICS Private Regulation thread. Other such examples abound. I will try to recognize where tangents have grown to a certain degree of removal from our main subjects and transfer them over to nt-politics when it seems right.
