But you may get stronger, you will get leaner, and as soon as you start eating normally you will quickly regain whatever mass you lost, as you will more effectively assimilate the nutrients from your food. And on a prolong fast weight loss slows down the longer you go. s Cahling, Mr. International, used to fast as a competitive bodybuilder, even wrote several articles about it. He had nothing but praise for the practice. I made my best gains when I first started Olympic Lifting in terms of flexibility and strength during the middle of a long fast. I didn't get any bigger but I got harder and leaner. My trainer was *shocked* when I finally told him near the end of the fast that I had actually been fasting during the last several weeks of training. There is an article on the web about fasting and athletes, particularly strength athletes, and how usually their strength *increases* for about three weeks while fasting. I will see if I can find it. You really have nothing to fear especially because I doubt you will be doing a long fast anyway (something short of ten days). > Also, I've found that it is impossible for me to 1) afford to make > enough fresh juice to last me a day and 2) get by reasonably on fresh > juice alone. There is still benefit, juices aren't necessary to benefit from fasting, but they do make for a different kind of fasting experience and certainly make it psychologically *much* easier to do. But if I were are consuming low quality juices I would absolutely make sure I was taking some green superfoods, potassium broth, and maybe some coconut milk and/or coconut oil in a liver flush. I personally can't tolerate pasteurized juices when fasting. They really throw me off. > > Oh before juice fasting I would flush out the liver until there are > > no more stones- see toolsforhealing.com for flush instructions- you can buy > > ingredients at supermarket. I hate liver flushes but IIRC Suze likes them. To each his own :-) You don't need to take L-Ornithine, ginger works just fine in keeping things down. Having said that I prefer my flushes with grape juice rather than orange juice, less of a gag reflex, at least for me. " I feel sorry for all those health food people.
