Guest guest
My son has a white spot in the middle of ALL his nails. I know I've gotten it before on one or two nails. And I'm pretty sure, it's lack of a certain vitamin/mineral but can't remember which one. I'm thinking zinc or Vitamin C????? Anyone know???? Guest guest
Zinc. Got beef? ;-) You can take zinc supplements, but you don't want to overdo. > My son has a white spot in the middle of ALL his nails. I know I've gotten it before on one or two nails. Guest guest
I started taking extra zinc and am now seeing white scratchy marks on the tops of my toenails - almost as if I've been scraping them. Too much zinc? It's weird (maybe I'm doing it in my sleep.) ~Robin

Guest guest
Really? That's odd, I've been trying to up my intake of zinc. Besides beef and oysters (which I LOVE on crackers for breakfasts by the way ::drool: what are good sources of useable zinc? It is zinc and it takes a while to correct...at least to tell you've corrected it by your nails. If you have a deficiency, you can't rely on your food stuffs (I hope you're making sure that your shellfish don't come from the Gulf of Mexico...) for adequate supplies of zinc if you are manifesting a defeciency. Take a major brand zinc lozenge as often as the manufacturer recommends. You'll probably notice a lot of health improvements, as well as better looking nails. Good luck! -Allan
Guest guest
I've been watching my mineral consumption and trying to make sure I am getting a lot. I add concentrace to my water (either from a local spring or from our friends well, no chlorine or fluoride or other junk) and a few drops to almost everything else too boost mineral levels. I soak all my grains and only VERY rarely will I eat untreated grain (occasionally regular whole wheat crackers or a slice of whole wheat bread) but that is VERY rarely. Lots of fermented stuff, veggies and dairy. I was rather shocked to see a sign of any mineral deficiency! I hope not since I eat them (and they are served and sold) all year around here in Washington. -- Life isn't static. People change. Circumstances change. What may have been true six months or a year ago may no longer be true now. Maybe a loved one got sick and died at a tender age...Maybe they ran into an old high school buddy who still looks great...At any rate what they couldn't hear before rings true to them now. So don't despair. Stick to the task. You will eventually find yourself surrounded by people who do care about good food and see it as a legitimate avenue to great health. The dead spot around the delta grows every year.
