Guest guest
There is no doubt in my mind that financial interests cause drug benefits to be exaggerated, and side effects kicked under the rug. No doubt this has happened with the cholesterol lowering statins, and many people have suffered. Its a multi-billion dollar Empire. As a good physician friend of mine stated, "If a doctor speaks out against it he/she can take on a lot of flak." It takes a gutsy Doctor with a lot of courage to do what Barbara is doing. Therefore from myself, and on behalf of the rest of this group, I wish to extend a big THANK YOU to Barbara for her incredible work. Guest guest
Ya know, I'm at the point where as soon as a DTC (direct to consumer) prescription drug ad comes on TV, I immediately change the channel. I know they are just trying to make more people ask their doctors for drugs they probably don't need and the patient has no idea of the negative test results because they are not published. Guest guest
As I say in the Acknowledgments page of my book, my patients are my first and best teachers. I wrote The Truth About Statins to empower them and everyone else who is interested in maintaining their health. As my incredibly wise mentor Dr. Bernard Lown taught me, the best physicians do more FOR their patients and less TO their patients. Barbara ---- Mike Shea wrote: I second the praise and thank you.
