Guest guest
Every so often someone asks what " this kind of diet " does to cholesterol levels. I just had mine checked, so now I can report! My HDL was 74, LDL was 141, for a total of 230. 141 is " borderline high " except that the HDL level is high so the ratio is fine (3.3 where the optimum ratio is 3.5). http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4503 My triglycerides were 74, where less than 150 is normal. Anyway, what these numbers *mean* depends on your point of view about cholesterol, but it ABSOLUTELY means that my high-meat high-coconut oil diet does not raise my risk of anything even by mainstream medical standards. Personally I think cholesterol might be an indicator of inflammatory problems, so I was interested to see how I was doing (since I was having problems with joint inflammation). -- Heidi Jean
