We have over a thousand members of which about 40+ are active at any one time. I took Simvastatin for 28 months and nearly died. My husband thought that I had the early stages of alzeimers, I even lost a whole day in my life at an airport. I have met Langsjoen in Tyler Texas who explained everything about Statin damage to me during a one hour video interview. After 3 years of pestering and cajoling my neurologist, I managed to get a private muscle biopsy done earlier this year. And guess what it revealed that I had a form of Muscular Dystrophy type damage, called Emery Dreyfeuss? Over 50% of my muscles have cannibalised - and are still doing so - even though I stopped the Statin 3 years ago. My neurologist dismissed the findings - as she has everything else as 'not credible' My symptoms have been, neuropathy - feet hands and face. Muscle pain & weakness all over, bowel & bladder prolapse - it had been repaired 3 years earlier. I am being treated at the moment for bowel incontinence - which is horrendous. I have a low white cell count - my immune system is shot, and I constantly get childhood illnesses, Otitis and Mastoiditis., plus severe kidney infections.(my urine was brown in the USA 3 years ago whilst on holiday) I have sciatica type pains in my buttocks and thighs, and the top of my spine is numb and extremely painful. But the worst thing of all is the memory loss. Sometimnes I don't know if I have had my breakfast and have to look in the dishwasher for the dishes. I forget numbers, appointments, my grandchildrens names and make constant notes to myself. My cognitive skills have been assessed as (69) although my IQ is 125 - the cognitive therapist thought I was making it up - until he repeated the test. I have kept a diary and it is makes very sad reading. The worst thing of all is that my cholesterol level was only 5.1 when the GP made me take the dam drug - it came down to under 3!!! Like a cretins. I don't care what it is now - just want to get it nice and high. I eat well, take 300mgs of COQ10 and fish oil, lots cream, butter, eggs and fresh foods - I just feel so bloody awful and no-one in the medical profession believes that Statins have done this to my body, because I had ME diagnosed in 2003 - so they blame it all on the ME. I think that's the reason why it has hit me harder as I already had a muscle condition. Wish I could find a neurologist in the UK who believed me. keep up the good work Pamela Sharp-Popple Felixstowe Suffolk Stefanies reply: Hi Pamela: Thank you for sharing your story with me. It is so sad what is happening to so many people because of statins. I am doing everything I can to get my message out. I just returned from a conference where I presented a 1 1/2 hour lecture on the dangers of statin drugs. The audience was very receptive -- no push back (although it was a highly receptive group, since they were members of the Weston Price Foundation) [the conference was the annual Wise Traditions Conference]. I'm going to post my slides from the talk on my web page shortly -- people.csail.mit.edu/seneff/ if you wanted to take a look. Stories like yours fuel the flames, and inspire me to work harder to take them down! The task seems impossible, though! Sounds as if you are doing well in your nutrition regimen. I'd also suggest trying to get as much sun exposure as possible, and making sure you eat foods that are rich in sulfur -- I see that you're eating eggs, but also onion and garlic could help. Guest guest
The Sciatic type pains in buttocks and thighs was my statin problem. Fortunately that was back in 2003 when I stopped taking statins. The nerve damage caused, I believe, by unshielded nerves resting on bone at the base of the spine, has left me with a dropped foot and poor balance. Stooping the statins allowed my cholesterol to rtecover and be used to build new myelin sheathing for those nerves.
