It's amazingly delicious!! My kids beg me for the stuff. I use it to wash down the VCO. LOL. My best suggestion is to take it right before a meal. That was the best way for me not to have CLO burps all day. It's better just to take it and get it over with than to try and mix it up in something - IMO. And, yes, with the GofL you take 1 tsp. With the Blue Ice, it's only 1/2 tsp. for the same amount of vitamins. :-) Steph

Guest guest
Seems like we used to take it with orange juice to cut the taste. Re: Cod Liver Oil - Please help! Guest guest
I too recently got the GoL lemon/mint flavor thinking that would be a good flavor to introduce in our smoothies etc. My entire family can spot it a mile away - even if I only add a couple of drops to the entire mixture, they turn up their noses and my 2 year old says " hot, hot - all done. " I have tried mixing in other things as well to no avail. Maybe I should try a differnt brand and flavor? > On Thu, Jul 07, 2005 at 07:22:57AM -0500, e Sheehan wrote: > > Oh my gosh guys. Guest guest
, yes, got the Lemon Mint. Ok. Just tried again with a little honey waiting and my water kefir (lemon, craisins, and dried plums). UUUUUG. YUCK. Did not help. Every drink of water kefir tasted like FISH. Oh my gosh. Can't do this. I will try it ONE more time in the am with MILK, then it's going back! Guys - found the cinnamon blue ice stuff. It's twice as much but it looks like the same amount of servings. But (at greenpastures) they have capsules too. Just want to clarify again. The liquid is much better assimilated/used than the capsules right??? One bottle is 96 doses (3 months worth), so keep that in mind. Also, it's cheaper if you order more at once. http://www.greenpasture.org/index.php/order Steph
Guest guest
Kris, This is too funny! My 10 YO son loves the stuff. My husband likes to eat chocolate covered ginger after the oil. > Oh my gosh guys. Guest guest
I put cod liver oil on solid food. Usually on steamed veggies, but I've put it on lots of things, and I hardly notice it's there--and I use 1-2 tablespoons. I can't taste it at all. The brand I use is Carlson. They have a lemon flavored version too but on food I can't taste much difference. > Oh my gosh guys. I FINALLY got Cod Liver Oil (Garden of Life brand oil). Guest guest
Guys - found the cinnamon blue ice stuff. It's twice as much but it looks like the same amount of servings. But (at greenpastures) they have capsules too. Just want to clarify again. The liquid is much better assimilated/used than the capsules right??? THanks, Kris AFAIK the caps contain the same CLO, in liquid form, just encapsulated. So nutritional content would be equal. We had allergy reactions to Carlson's and the other HFS brands, including GOL were too low Vit A content for us, so we ended up with Blue Ice. We prefer the mint, but we're about the try the cinnamon when the mint runs out. If the flavor is such a sensitive issue with you, go with the caps. You just pay a bit more for them per dose than the liquid. Rebekah
Guest guest
On this topic of CLO... There's a poll about CLO flavor experience on the NN homepage I made a long time ago, so I encourage people to vote! It's a very fun topic. So far only 9% of the respondents have expressed a dislike and 39% have expressed a liking for the flavor. The rest are neutral or don't have the relevant experience to report on. I think plain CLO is delicious. I enjoy mine plain off the measuring spoon. I have used only the Sally-endoresed Quantum brand for a few years. It's very fresh tasting. I keep in the fridge, always seem fine. I use it less often in the sunny weather because the main point of CLO is the vitamin D, though it's also my main omega-3 source... I have to admit I pity all the people who are so limited in their tastes that they fuss over ways to mask the flavor or buy flavored CLO... It seems completely absurd to me. I mean, it's only one mouthful! A nice way to eat is to have tiny amounts of many diversely flavored foods, a bit of one pungent item here and there, and everything balances and complements each other. I think a lot of you guys are stuck in the mono-flavor and no-flavor rut of SAD culture... Except for the contamination issue, I'd love to get frozen whole cod livers instead like Heidi suggested, but I've never heard of them being sold anywhere. I have seen whole cod liver in cans (on rare occasions) and I bought some to try a year or two ago. It was, well, it was very oily!!! Extremely soft, tender, and OILY! Like it was bathing in its own oil... Mike SE Pennsylvania The best way to predict the future is to invent it. --Alan Kay
Guest guest
HOLD YOUR NOSE!!! If you can't smell, you won't be able to taste either. So, hold your nose when you take the tsp. or tbls., then take a spoonful of coconut oil. The c.o. will " wash away " the CLO taste in a jiffy. Then you can take a swig of milk or oj for extra insurance. HTH,
