Guest guest
Pratick, One of the first foods that all of my children have loved (along with avocados and bananas) was steamed yellow squash. What I did was initially I gave them squash that I had steamed and then pureed. You can thin it down with water if you need to. Later, after there have been some other foods introduced, use the bone broth to thin it down with. Also, don't rule out starting pureed meats early. That really is one of the best things that you can do. I would be a little careful of combining a lot of foods early on. Keep it real simple, that way they can get a taste for the food and you will also know if something doesn't sit well with them. 5 mos old is still really young and the food your baby is getting now is really just an " experiment " , something fun for them to start to learn about. You said the baby is still nursing and that is wonderful as that should still be the overwhelming bulk of the food the baby receives at this age. You don't want to do a lot of mixing at this point. I'd maybe introduce some veggies one at a time: carrots, green peas, sweet potato, etc. I tried to give some chicken broth with pureed carrots at about 6 mos and he didn't care for it. We tried again at 7 mos with some carrots, potatoes and chicken broth and he liked it. I used chicken, carrots, onion, parsnip and celery in the broth and no seasoning except grey salt. If your child is especially sensitive, you migh want to skip the onion but I really wouldn't try broths until much later. has really taken to my kefir cheese (thick kefir strained through a cloth) mixed with pureed fruit (peach, apple, banana, pear). He also loves mashed potatoes with raw milk and raw butter. HTH, Magda

Maybe I'm the wrong person to answer, not having a kid and therefore not having looked into feeding babies in any detail, but I'd suspect bone broths for young children should be just like bone broths for adults, but I wonder about the vegetable soups. 5 months seems a bit early to me to start introducing lots of plant foods. -
