Guest guest
Hi, We have been following a NT way of eating. I nurse my baby but am wondering when or if I should introduce raw milk and or raw milk kefir in addition to his diet (I will still nurse). From cow or from goat? What about raw milk cheese? I appreciate your input!

You may want to mix the milk gradually into some expressed breastmilk to ease the transition. I've been giving my 7 mos old baby raw kefir cheese which he loves. Let me know if you have other questions. I love to learn from other NT moms out there... Magda
Guest guest
I've given my now 2 year old kefir/raw milk products since she was 13 months old, and she's had no problems with it. I'm still nursing her, although we're going through the weaning phase now. But, I wanted her to have something healthy to drink, in addition to water. She doesn't like fruit juice, which is good, since we don't promote those. But, she will occasionally drink kefir. And she loves raw milk cheeses. Guest guest
hello, i'm a bit surprised by everyone's replies to this. perhaps because i'm now confused... i thought that the prevailing theory is that we SHOULD NOT give our children younger than 2 years old, raw, unpasteurized anything. i know for sure they specify honey. and i was certain kefir was also banned (until i read everyone's replies here, now i'm wavering...) and the same for any foods that involve molds, either purposely or potentially - such as peanuts... anyone have any more specific insights on this? angel > > > We have been following a NT way of eating. Wouldn't pasteurizing the milk prior to breast-feeding be rather painful? Anyway, honey is a concern because of botulism, and the standard advice is not to give any honey, pasteurized or not, to children under the age of one year.
