Hello to all,

Some of you know I have an 83 year old sister diagnosed with LBD about 2

years ago or maybe a little longer. Went thru a 2 1/2 hour evaluation. Before

that

she was falling a lot for no apparent reason. Had some hallucinations, short

term memory, not good. Had been put on aricept ( can't remember the mg) some

time before the evaluation, it seems the hallucinations stopped then.

Now she just has very very bad short term memory, and at times very

aggressive behavior. Getting something in her mind that she can do and come hell

or

high water will not change her mind. I realize one of the symptoms of LBD is no

reasoning ability.

She can still dress herself, take spot baths, and sit. Has no energy, and

can't walk very far at the time. She says she can cook but then never tries. She

can put Wal Mart biscuits in the over and cook them, and cook sausage patties

for her breaksfast. Can do the cereal thing etc. I guess my question is, when

will she get to the point of where I read so many los are or have been? I

realize everyone is different but it seems she has been this way a long time,

not

getting better or worse.

I know she has had the LBD for longer than the 2 1/2 years ago when she was

dg.

I look back and think we have been noticing as far back as 98-99 things not

being right for her.

Now that I have rambled, if anyone can put it all together for me with any

kind of information for me I would appreciate it very much.

She is on no other of the meds that I have seen posted.

Also have another sister with symptoms of LBD that is 77 will address that in

another post.

Thanks

Hi Jayn....

Is this a " new " symptom? Any changes in meds that this could be a

side effect of? My dad hasnt had that except when he first went on

Aricept, and at that time the dose was reduced and he was ok. I

think I would call her doctor and run it by him if I were you. I

wish you luck resolving it quickly.

Apparently my sister has recently been diagnosed hypo. They started her of course on synthroid, she got the Sandoz variety, w hich i had a bad reaction to. It sent her into panic attacks. She also has a seizure disorder. The doctor told her that Sandoz can be off by 12.5 mg???? one way or the other - up or down..don't know but they also told her that people with combo seizure d/o and thyroid disease need to be careful with their meds. The bad news is that her neuro sent her to an endo. Does anyone know anything about combo seizure disorder and thryoid meds.

Hypothyroidism can cause seizures. Some (but not all) seizure medications can cause hypothyroidism. She needs a doc who really knows what he is doing. I have a friend who is hypo, has seizures, has migraines. She was taking a tricyclic antidepressant for the migraines. That caused her latest round of seizures. Are we having fun yet? Her neurologist read the prescribing info for the tricyclic. . . . And yes, I have heard that the Sandoz can be off by as much as 12%. sle816@... wrote: Apparently my sister has recently been diagnosed hypo.
