Guest guest
Hello: Maybe thses questions are as old the hills. (Do they still use this expression in English?) In a previous post I said that many vegans were cheaters. As a true ruminant, I have been chewing these words since I posted them... On second thoughts, there may be many vegans, too, who never cheat. I have always been told that veganism isn't conducive to health, that all animals on earth, including herbivores, need some animal food (bugs, grubs, insects, eggs, what do I know?) to stay alive and healthy. Why would it be different for humans? Unless you think maybe humans came here from another sphere? Nevertheless, if you browse through vegan pages on the web, you often bump into these people who say they have been thriving on a strict vegan diet, at times raw vegan, for many years. Is it the case that they are all liars? Can't be. We have perhaps established here on this forum a few facts, for instance: a) some people need a little starch or carbs to be ok. A few can even afford to eat some wheat, though this is unessential. (I am not saying that starches are necessary to life. I am rather saying that, in real life, some metabolic types do rather well or not really bad on starches, as long as they don't overdo it and eat animal protein as well.) some people apparently have no problem with dairy. Can we now further generalize and say that some types can afford to be vegan? What is at stake here? A body who has gone through all stages of detoxifying and is now gifted with a tremendous digestive power, that is capable of not only surviving on plant protein, but actually of getting better all the time, so to say? A body which can produce its own Vitamin B 12 out of veggies? As with instincto and certain rawfoodisms, veganism tend to isolate the ones who stick with it ... In some cases, this can become a " health " problem leading to mysticism. What do you think? Is veganism a concrete possibility to be reached by those who stay and persist on the route, despite all the difficulty? Or is it simply another myth? I tend to think it is a myth, but then again all those people are lying. Is this possible? José
