Guest guest
Hey , I saw your post asking about GI doctors in Houston...I have one that I can highly recommend who is at the Texas Childrens' Hospital. Her name is Carol A. Redel, M.D.(google it). She came to see Ben while he was in the hospital this summer for a couple of days having all kinds of tests run on him. He was admitted after giving himself a couple of black eyes! He would not give us reliable information on his keyboard to tell us what was wrong and we brought him to the emergency room. Anyway, she was one of the many doctors who checked him out and while there, she scheduled a stomach scope for him a few days later. After scoping, she found a mild ulcer in his stomach--prescribed prevacid and mystery solved! She was WONDERFUL to work with but more importantly...very knowledgeable concerning GI issues associated with autism. In fact, while talking to her, Jeff learned that she actually worked with Tim Buie in connection with the Harvard Gut Study and is still involved with the Autism Treatment Network. She is well aware of what they are doing at Thoughtful House too--so she's definitely " in the loop " with all that stuff. I think you would really like her. Like everyone else--it does take a while for the first scheduled visit. Ben's doing fine but we had to schedule a follow up visit for him recently, which technically is his first office visit, and it's not until March. Just wanted to warn you-- but I think she's worth the wait! a
