Guest guest
Hi everyone. Just in case I haven’t already mentioned this to you ten times, I’m so excited that Lynn and Koegel are coming to Dallas this month. Lynn Koegel co-authored my all-time-favorite book autism-related book called Overcoming Autism. You can read more about it the book here: HYPERLINK " http://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Autism-Finding-Strategies-Transform/dp/014 3034685/sr=8-1/qid=1167937691/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0076237-9680409?ie=UTF8 & s= books " http://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Autism-Finding-Strategies-Transform/d p/0143034685/sr=8-1/qid=1167937691/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0076237-9680409?ie=UT F8 & s=books I’ve given copies to many of you in the past, just because it’s such a practical book for parents dealing with such a complicated issue. ( from ECI loaned a copy to me right after Jack was diagnosed. It was like a life-preserver to me at the time…) Her advice is also very applicable to therapists, teachers, practically anyone who deals with autism on a personal or professional level. Also, to her credit, Lynn Koegel was featured on a recent episode of TV’s Supernanny. The particular episode featured a family that had a three year-old son with autism. You can read more about it here: HYPERLINK " http://abc.go.com/primetime/supernanny/episodes/2005-2006/7.html " http://abc ..go.com/primetime/supernanny/episodes/2005-2006/7.html. I cried every time a watched the episode (what a shocker..) and my daughter Amy also really, really enjoyed it. Dr. Koegel is so warm and down-to-earth, it just makes you feel better to listen to her advice. I know times are busy, and money is tight right after the holidays. We are so incredibly lucky that DFW Center for Autism is bringing the Koegels to Dallas. I encourage you to attend the seminar if at all possible. Also, if you know anyone who might want to exhibit at the conference, there are a limited number of exhibit tables available. You can contact Valier Yoakam at DFWCA and she will get you hooked up! Okay, enough rambling… Hope to see you there.
