Guest guest
The following is from someone with experience with the Ohio vouchers. She only gave me permission to forward her post if it was done anonymously. Tonya -----Original Message----- Here it is 25,000 dollars - it does not pay for any of the good schools reputable ones entirely - but pays for lots of what I call vulture programs - When they began they were good because it allowed for supplementing what the school districts were proving allowing for greater services for kids - now you can not get both - You either have the voucher or you are with a school system - there is no longer the ability to do both - What the voucher program did do is motivate the better districts to begin investing time and resources in developing good strong programs - I think for those families who have some means - the vouchers help - but it takes lots of work to coordinate the services - for others I find that many of their children are in equally bad placements as if they were in PS but that the charismatic " leaders " of these programs really have the parents believing the best they can hope for their children is for them to not be violent - and to develop basic self care skills -
