2 Candidase along with one Peptizyde three times a day worked really well.

I opened the capsules into a tsp and my daughter would take it with a glass

of water. For your son, if you are interested, you might try 1/2 to one

capsule to start with.

I had tried the Candex which is supposed to be a similar product but that

did not do much.

Hello, Do you use the tincture for pau d'arco & uva ursi or the caps?

With either how do you dose it? I have various ages (13, 9, 5, 2)...

Also, what is berberine?

Thanks,

Michele

Thanks Dana. You are a plethora of knowledge. How do you keep it all straight?

RE: Re:DANA: Need help on Natural Antifungals

For naturals, we rotate caprylic, paul d'arco, berberine & uva ursi - only a few days of each. Others go longer but this is what works best for us. Grapefruit seed extract can be very effective for some but my kids are phenol sensitive and do not tolerate it. A couple of those also have antibacterial properties so we are attacking both yeast and bacteria. Before this, both of my boys did 3-4 weeks on Flucanazole, which really seemed to help. Right now, my oldest is doing straight probiotics w/a natural only when I sense yeast creeping back. My youngest is doing naturals in the a.m. and probiotics in the aft and eve. I used to try to squeeze Candex in and I really like the product but had a very difficult time w/the empty stomach requirement and it's not effective otherwise. I also use charcoal 1x/day away from everything else on my oldest. In addition, I use Bioatgen from Kirkman's 2x/day. It is food for the good flora, dissolves completely and has no taste whatsoever. And we use GI Immune, another Kirkman's product which is a mix of herbs that are good for the gut. We recently added Cell Food (buy it from Brainchild) to keep their bowels moving along w/magnesium. It is very effective yet gentle. I would love to use coconut kefir but we've tried it and discovered my kids are allergic, confirmed by symptoms and IGG tests. Also tried the goat yogurt and my very casein sensitive kids could not tolerate it - even in tiny amounts they were up at night w/tummy aches. Hope this helps.

With 2 little boys on the spectrum, I've been at this for 4+ years. I still feel completely overwhelmed and disorganized. How I wish I had discovered this and other boards in the early days. I learn so much from all of you each and every day. I thank god for all of you and for the Internet! - Dana

What is grape seed extract for vs. grapefruit seed extract? I have both. I tried the grapeseed extract in capsule form for my son a long time ago. I can't remember why I even used it. Sad, isn't it? LOL.

Grape seed extract is an antioxidant and grapefruit seed extract is

an antifungal used for killing yeast.

The only thing I would add to this is that cracking a coconut sounds intimidating (it was for me)!! It's really not a big deal. I use a screw driver and hammer to poke holes in the top, and then tip upside down in a strainer (sometimes pieces of shell will come out so you need to strain it). My kids even help me with it. Using the boxed coconut water is more convenient, but we choose to use fresh coconuts for the full effect of all of the enzymes and vitamins. Either way is very healing.

My son is very sensitive too, and we need to be Feingold Stage I. However, he handles the coconut water very well. It all depends on the child, so it's worth a try. Something to remember too if you try it, make sure you do it slowly. It often causes die-off reaction because it works so well. As Dana mentioned before, have activated charcoal on hand. :-)

I use liquid paul d'arco that I buy from Brainchild. Right now, we're up to about 6 drops. Mine are little, ages 4 and 6. Uva Ursi I use the capsules. I only use about 1/2 cap and only for a few days. Uva Ursi can be tough on the liver and you are not supposed to use it longterm. I buy Berberine Complex capsules from Lee Silsby but you can get them online. The manuf. is PhytoPharmica. I use up to one cap per day.
