Guest guest
Thank you for sending that article. I can only speak from personal experience, but I remember in the late 1960's being around disabled children. My brother was very ADHD, he was born ten months before me, and died at the age of 14 because of his fearlessness. When he was younger, the children from the school for disabled children would come to my house and go swimming with assistance. Most of the children were mentally retarded, many had cerebral palsy, but I do not recall any having the characteristics of what we call autism or autism spectrum disorder. Later, a relative lived in a group home in the late 70's, early 80's and only one person in the group home had autism. I recall the description of autism at the time and how odd the disorder seemed. Most in the adult group home in the early 80's had forms of cerebral palsy and schizophrenia. The incidence of autism in my experience has exploded over the last decade and the fact that more males are susceptible reminds me of the fact that statistically all male babies are more susceptible and weak as compared to female babies to environmental factors. That is why there are more females in the general population. My son has " integration disorder " , my daughters are normal. Yes, I think something stinks in the state of Denmark as they say, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is something being hidden from us. Guest guest
There is a yahoo list for Biomedical intervention, I am sure some of you guys know about it, but it's an excellent starting place for information and questions. Here is the address: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/abmd/ The list has over 3300 participants in the US and worldwide, so the email is heavy, but you can join and read it on the web instead of getting emails.
