Guest guest
You can't really debate science vs. religion though, there are two completely different paradigms at work. - Heidi Jean -------------------------------- Tell that to the Young Earth Creationists! How intellectually honest is it to use a set of books as a standard, and then go and try to have your " observations " match what the writings say? With all due respect to people of all or no faiths, science is an attempted explanation of the workings of some aspect of our universe, whereas religion concerns the supernatural. So Heidi is correct, they do not and should not mix. History bears this out time and again. Deanna " Oh, my dear Kepler, how I wish that we could have one hearty laugh together! Read Quicksilver ... it's a fun romp through the Reformation era, tells both sides rather well, I thought. The definition of " Science " is that you believe only what you can prove. The definition of " Faith " is belief in that which you cannot prove. Hence they are diametric opposites. There are scientists who have a deep faith and people of faith who love science, but still, the two don't mix. Kinda like mixing " Art " and " Technology " ... the folks who do Art need technology to create the pigments, but the things that make Art work are different from what makes Technology work. Guest guest
[Helga] Oh, Deanna ... you would LOVE Neal son! Read Quicksilver ....it's a fun romp through the Reformation era, tells both sides rather well,I thought. [DMW] Okay, twist my arm, I will. [Glutenatorship] The definition of " Science " is that you believe only what you can prove. [DMW] And the faith that you cannot prove in, say, Trinitarian Christianity is for real. No logic can give evidence to such an idea as 3 in one and one in 3. And I won't even confound it further than that, yet it is illogical in essence. If others want to pick up this torch, then so be it. I just wanted to note that not only has religion no business in science, that the converse is also true. Oh gads, now I'm confused ... are " Helga " and " her Glutenatorship " the SAME person or DIFFERENT people? .... is this like the 3 in 1 only brought down to human level? I'll never get to sleep now ... time for some kefir-beer!
