Hi, just learned about this group last week and I'm glad to find you.

My daughter is 3 yrs old- low muscle tone (issues with balance -

didn't walk until 22 mths), history of earinfections and antibiotics,

severe apraxia, eyes misaligned at times, gut issues- sloppy bms

every 3+ days (for almost 3 years), problems with receptive and

expressive language, skin color looks sickly, had pain tolerance

issues- has gotten better- for her 1st year of life we thought she

had hearing loss.

What she is on now...mb12 sots, zinc, supernuthera, acetyl-l

carnitine, gfcf (started gf within the last month) therabiotic, pro

omega, glutathione, liverlife, suppository dmps....have done 20 hrs

hbot..will do more....

When i saw ethan's video before valtrex...i was shocked to see the

way he walked and held his hands...very much like our

daughter.....many of the same issues ...so here i am

learning.....hoping.....

We do have a DAN dr.... and i feel she has responded to biomedical

therapy....she is now starting to repeat the last word we say to her-

i am so glad to hear words!!!

a couple questions:

1) Do we need to take a break from chelating when starting valtrex?

2)Does every one doing this therapy know when their child regressed

the 1st time???? ( for us we don't know for sure- she had seizures

at 4mth and 6mths so that was a red flag to us) I don't mean the

healing regession.....

3) Does everyone do the SCD with this.....i just added gf - have been

cf since july...any thoughts on what i should do?

4) Does this seem like something we need to try??

thank for your help!

If your child is like Stan's...and she certainly sounds like

ours....get the food intolerances and allergies tests ASAP, DROP GFCF

if possible and eat/feed her only SCD legal foods for awhile...do the

actual diet if possible in the stages...but if you cannot manage that

(we couldn't) just stick to meat veggies and green apples, peeled and

raw or cooked into applesauce...if she does NOT have casein issues

per her tests all I can tell you is that the goat milk yogurt as done

on the SCD has been REMARKABLE for us so far and for assisting in

healing our son's gut. Matt made all his one year therapy goals

within three months thanks to valtrex in conjunction with an

antifungal - first diflucan now nizoral, supplements, and CUTTING ALL

STARCHES COMPLEX CARBS AND SUGARS except a wee bit of honey in the

yogurt at night before bed. A therapist told us today that without

spending time with Matt they would not know immediately that he has

autism!!! Six months ago he was xoned out most of the day and

drooled copiously on himself. He was ref to a neurologist bc of the

way he moved and all his weird spasms and tics...to see if he was

having petit mal seizures....all that stuff is GONE, post a nasty die

off, and after adjusting to no gluten, c carbs, starches, and

sugar....the difference is HUGE. The diet change has also helped

enormously with his language...we are getting words and word attempts

now...before he was nonverbal. Prep your daughter's gut if you are

thinking of attempting an antiviral trial...I am SURE that Stan would

tell you to do the same....diet, diet, diet....I would put all my

energy there before HBOT and other things even supps and valtrex. I

would test for yeast and bacteria right away too....her movements

sound like she is def affected in this area by bad gut bugs and

[ossibly systemic yeast as well. Good luck....all the therapies are

greatly assisted by addressing the gut as soon and as aggressively as

possible.....Di

As far as I know, no, you don't. I don't chelate but I can tell you

that viruses hold on to metals so adding Valtrex should definitely

help you get better pulls from the chelation.

My son had a regression but he showed symptoms well before. We know

now, looking back, that he was showing symptoms of autism at birth.

He didn't have much to regress so we never really pinpointed it as

much of a regression until later but it happened when he turned 2,

almost to the day! I remember telling my dh just a few days after

his birthday " man, they weren't kidding about the terrible two's! "

without thinking anything more of it. He didn't have much language

to begin with but his regressive symptoms were sleep pattern

completely changed, stopped eating most of the things I gave him and

what little (and I do mean little - just a few words that were not

functional) language he had stopped. Started throwing a lot of

temper tantrums.

We are not GFCF or SCD. We are on the NIDS protocol, not DAN, so we

do the NIDS diet.

Hi,I'm new to this group

My 7 & 1/2 year old daugther showed alot of clostridia in her stools and urine dr . bradstreet is puting her on vancomycin bid, also on spironolacton for inflamation and probiotics ,Iwas wonderning ifany body's child was on vanco and what should i look for.also if any body has any experience with spironolactone .my girl is constipated and i don't feel comfortable giving her a diuretic ,although he said it will reduce inflamation of her gut and should actually help with constipation.

thanks in advance

Welcome!

One of the amazing things I've learned with IOWL is that you can move beyond

resisting what you don't want, to finding what you want instead. It's much

easier than resisting...

One thing you might want to consider as you're going through the podcasts is

that sometimes it's nice to let the ideas settle a bit. So instead of a new one

each day, you might want 3 new ones each week--but allow yourself to go back and

re-listen to the earlier ones. (Shuffle is great for that.) That way you can

listen to a podcast each day, AND give yourself time to absorb the ideas. Just a

suggestion....

FWIW, I spent a lot of my life with that " one cookie isn't enough, better to

have none " feeling--but I can't remember the last time I felt that way. Here's

wishing you (and everyone else) that same feeling!

WHAT I need to do to lose weight, but have always struggled with resisting

temptation, and I'm like an alcoholic with food - one cookie isn't enough,

better to have none than one, because one will always lead to more.

available for me to be able to listen to one each day for months! :)

Ooh, thanks . That's good advice about letting things settle in. Right now

I'm listening to an episode in the mornings on my bike on the way to work, and

then that same episode again after dinner that evening. I'll see how long I can

keep this up for and how things are settling in, and if I find I'm not getting

the benefit from it, I'll " cut back " . ;-)

I feel like I need some kind of daily re-connection with my resolve, hence the

daily listenings. Had a minor breakthrough this morning on episode 4, where

says to " pull that feeling out of your body and hold it " and " thank it for

its gift " . The wierdest thing happened - I found myself imagining that the

" feeling " was a small wild sentient animal (like Taz or Stitch from Lilo &

Stitch) who represents my desire for tasty treats, and every time someone at

work offers me a bit of junk food, I imagine the monster curled up fast asleep

(purring) on my desk, not desiring any treats.

It's helped immensely!! :)

Hi all

, I'd love if you can talk more about moving beyond resistance.

After 30 years of habitual resisting, I'd love strategies for that.

I too have been listening to the podcasts over and over, but I'd love to hear

how those who have been successful with iowl have done so.

Thx

Oooo... I like that image of a monster. Purring, not desiring any treats! May

I borrow it?

For me it was a tangled ball of string/wool/fiber (a real mix). I thanked it

and put it down somewhere. It's rolled off somewhere and I haven't been

bothered by it. Even when I get the chance to snack (like when my mother-in-law

sent my hubby his favorite peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for his birthday

last week) I ate just one! I just didn't want any more than that. It felt

totally natural to me but when I look back on it, that was NOT the " old " me. I

LIKE the " new " me!! I'm down 12 pounds and feeling SO much better without all

that sugar running in my veins!

Keep up the great work!!
