Guest guest
Dr Wilfong at the Bluebird Clinic in Houston specializes in epilepsy. He is a pediatric neurologist who only works with children with seizures. People come to see him from around the world. We live in Austin but travel to Houston to see him. We went to several neurologists before finding him. I would go to no other but the best and I am certain it is him Levine in Austin pediatric neurologists I am looking for someone specialized in seizures and Autism. It would also be nice if someone is open-minded and does not just think of drugs. Thanks,
Guest guest
, Thank you for your feedback. How do you like his style, manners? Does he push drugs? Is he open to other treatments? I am not sure that my son can go through an EEG, especially while awake. Also, from what I amreading EEGs are not very reliable to detect activities of seizures any way while they are not active. Thanks, pediatric neurologists > > > > I am looking for someone specialized in seizures and Autism. Guest guest
I cannot vouch for any other neurologist but Dr Wilfong at the Bluebird Clinic but in my opinion he is the best. I would suggest researching the web and see what you find. I am sure there are others out there as well. Re: pediatric neurologists I took my son to Dr. .... He was always OPEN to new treatments, etc. He read research I gave him, etc. And also - when my son went through his atonic (drop) seizures - he NEVER once registered ANY seizure activity on an EEG. In fact, a neurologist at Blue Bird thought it was all " behavior " and not really seizures. Bout ripped his head off - yeah - I made up those horrible horrible seizures and my son just did that " for fun " . I was not impressed with my experience at Blue Bird and went back to Dr. . Although I hear now he's at Blue Bird...... ginam <ginamhouston (DOT) <mailto:ginam%40houston.rr.com> rr.com> wrote: , Thank you for your feedback. How do you like his style, manners? Guest guest
Thank you . It is important to me though that the doctor is to have a good bedside manner, to be compassionate, and patient. This should go with the territory especially when dealing with stressed out families of children with Autism. I have also heard about Dr. with Texas Children. Any comments. pediatric neurologists >> >> >> >> I am looking for someone specialized in seizures and Autism. Guest guest
Hi, I have a 6yrs old boy, I would like to get the phone contact for Dr. Wilfong. There are times that my son had this moments where he just screem his lungs out. or sometimes he start to shake , I talked to his regular Dr. but he said there is nothing anormal. I just want a second opinion. Could you tell me how to contact Dr. Wilfong? Thank you Rosie Levine wrote: I am an RN and have worked with individuals with disabilities for years, as well as having a 17 year old son with autism and a past history of seizures which are now contolled, thanks to Dr Wilfong. EEGs are the sure way to detect seizures. A person does not have to be having an active seizure in order to detect them. An EEG is critical in order to determine seizures. And you want to control seizures asap. I never thought me son would tolerate an EEG either but I was surprised. He has had several over the years. Now that he is older we do have to hold him closely to make sure he doesn't move but with holding him and using whatever calming technique works, such as rubbing his arms, face, etc. he is able to do OK with an EEG. It does make us sad then he has to have one yet we know it is essential in the treatment of his seizures. If you suspect seizures, definitley see a Dr and have an EEG. Dr Wilfong is rather arrogant, but he probably has reason to be. He does prescribe medication. He has done extensive research on all types of epilepsy and knows his stuff. He is blunt. He will tell you how it is. He will not sugar coat what he sees. You know you are getting the facts. I personally like that. He is completely honest, and it may not be good news, but iwe have to face what is real. Anyway, we did vast research on pedi neuros throughout the country and have been to quite a few and he has been the one to help our son the most. Don't expect to like him but expect results. And by all means have the EEG. Let me know if I can help more Re: pediatric neurologists , Thank you for your feedback. How do you like his style, manners? Does he push drugs? Guest guest
I have several numbers to reach Dr Wilfong. (832)822-3013 (832)822-0959 (832)822-1750 He is gone until mid March but go ahead and call for an appt. He truly is the best in my opinion if seizures are a concern Re: pediatric neurologists , Thank you for your feedback. How do you like his style, manners? Does he push drugs?
