No committees have been selected yet formally. On Jan. 9, 2007, the 80th

odd-numbered year. These biennial sessions are limited to 140 days.

Key dates for the 80th Texas Legislature are:

* Prefiling of legislation begins on Nov. 13, 2006.

* 80th Legislature convenes at noon on Jan. 9, 2007.

* The deadline for filing bills and joint resolutions other than local

bills, emergency appropriations, and bills that have been declared an

emergency by the governor is March 9, 2007 (60th day of session).

* The last day of 80th Regular Session is May 28, 2007 (140th day).

* The last day the governor can sign or veto bills passed during the

regular legislative session is June 17, 2007 (20th day following final

adjournment).

* The date that bills without specific effective dates (that could not

be effective immediately) become law is August 27, 2007 (91st day following

final adjournment).

Does anyone know who the chair of the Insurance Committee (or whatever that

committee is called) is for the upcoming legislative session? Or who the

other members are? I'd like to contact them.

Thank you,

A. Weber
