Guest guest
My three year-old son Jack has been at DFW Center for Autism in Grapevine for a year now. He attends about 30 hours per week. Theirs is an ABA-based inclusive preschool setting. He does receive some Discrete Trial there, but spends most of his time in the inclusion setting. They also provide one-on-one in-home therapy which we take advantage of for another 10-14 hours per week. It's great because it helps generalize the skills he's picking up at the center. Overall I think the program is great. The therapists are highly trained and over this past year have really started to feel like family. When he started he had no expressive or receptive language, no joint attention, and wouldn't even look at us. His joint attention has dramatically improved and his language skills have really exploded. He is severely affected, so he has a long, long way to go, but overall I think his progress is great. Even better, he has become such a happy kid. My main complaint with the center would be the high cost as well as some problems with communication from the administration at times. No place is perfect though, so I've learned to focus on the 99% that's so positive. Hope that helps ...
