Guest guest
Depends on the bacterium. Some are nearly transparent, others are quite visible. Most bacterium are visible at 400 power but some need 1000x and darkfield, or phase contrast, becomes important too. At the higher magnifications the vibrations present almost anywhere become important too; in using non-optical Atomic Force Microscopes, which resolve down to molecules and lower, the microscopes are often on air cushions and then also on sand platforms. Guest guest
Hi Dave, Can normal microscopes be converted to darkfield, or is this something that the manufacturers have to build into the microscope ? Guest guest
The darkfield effect is achieved by using a specially designed condenser for the higher powers (100x oil immersion) or simply inserrting a " stop " below your stage that can be used at lower powers (400x or less). When using specialized DF condensers, you also will either need a funnel stop or a iris adjustable high power objective to match the df condenser. All major brands will often have df condensers available for the darkfield effect. Guest guest
Ken, It gets a bit complicated .. primers on the subject at: http://www.olympusmicro.com/primer/techniques/darkfieldindex.html and http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/techniques/darkfield.html Condensers are usually not interchangeable between manufacturers. Lots better to buy the microscope with darkfield or with phase contrast to start with, but it runs the price up.. Guest guest
Thanks Doug, I have sent my application to http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/DarkFieldMicroscopy/ I am a beginner here, but as Dr Bare learnt about them, then I figured so can I. Regards, Ken Uzzell Re: Fw: Re:High Power Microscopes with Camera > > >> Hi Dave, >> >> Can normal microscopes be converted to darkfield, or is this something >> that >> the manufacturers have to build into the microscope ? >> >> Ken Uzzell > > > > >
Guest guest
Ken: I ordered a high-end microscope from Precision World on Ebay after they confirmed that you could add their oil darkfield condenser. However, it does perform poorly with very little light transmitted to obtain the correct affect. The scope does have the adjustable iris and third port for video viewing and performs very well in the bright field mode. Precision World does not respond with recommendations or answer on this topic. I would recommend buying a unit already proved to perform instead of adapting, at least from what I've experienced. Guest guest
One should avoid the no-name brand of scopes that are rampant on ebay and other sites on the net. They may look and sound grand, but don't be fooled. They often come from the Pacific rim and are characterized by poor optics and plastic parts. Not good. One would be far better off taking one chances on ebay with known quality brands of used/obsolete research or clinical scopes from the 1960s or 70s. For me the best bang for the buck has always been the AO American Optical microscope line with easily obtained accessories that are very common and cheap on ebay. I have put together a quality microscope capable of both darkfield and epi-fluorescence (UV) for well under $500, not an easy task with other well known quality brands, particularly if you are interested in the UV option. doug Re: Fw: Re:High Power Microscopes with Camera > > >> Hi Dave, >> >> Can normal microscopes be converted to darkfield, or is this something >> that >> the manufacturers have to build into the microscope ? >> >> Ken Uzzell >
Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for this. A friend is doing her Naturopathy studies and we may join our businesses. She is interested in live blood analysis and so am I, as this slots right into my Rife frequency therapy studies, scanner development project and body work profession. s Ergonom 500 and his other series of cheaper Ergonom dark field microscopes stagger us as to what can be observed. The price is just beyond our reach at the moment. The depth of field the Ergonom provides is very good, and I haven't seen this in other microscope presentations. I was very impressed with the video presentation Bil Green shared with us at http://www.squarewaveresearch.com.pa/video_clips.html It is now becoming clear that researchers are getting close to being able to do what Dr Rife did, these are very exciting times we live in. Guest guest
Everyone can think of making short movies of their Rife machines and experiences and posting them on www.utube.com. More people all the time are watching this website rather than television and it seems to be a great and free way to get the word out about Rife. Think about it and check it out. All my love, lee
