Regardless of how beans are prepared, after we get a little older, many of

us need the enzyme in " beano " to digest them properly.

Broad spectum digestive enzymes are a great help digesting most foods as we

get older, but beans are a particular problem and most combination enzymes

don't have the enzyme in " beano " .

We have a large family and live in the Southwest. We eat a lot of

beans!...and we pass the beano around the table. All the older children use

it as well my husband and me.

Why not just quit eating beans as a regular item if you have to rely

on such an artificial measure? They are one of the least nutritious

foods among good foods, and there are so many other foods to eat

instead. You could eat more vegetables and fat instead, which will

probably be far healthier anyway. And you could use starchy roots in

addition to fat to make up for the calories if you were so inclined.

Then there's grains like millet, oats, etc that could be directly

substituted for beans.

Perhaps ingesting a squirt of pure natto spore daily in a cup of water would

help with the bean problem. Natto's natural food is beans. If you are a fan

of nattokinase and its effect on blood stickiness you may be interested to

hear that ingesting the pure spore was more effective than eating fermen-

ted Natto Beans. I got my vial of natto spore (good for fermenting 86 lbs of

soybeans) from GEM Cultures for about $11. If anyone tries this, let us

know how it works.
