Off the top of my head, for baby and you if you are still pregnant and/or breastfeeding:

- breastfeed, avoid gluten, casein, soy, corn and sugar

- yes, avoid seafood while pregnant or breastfeeding unless it is tested for metals

- eat whole foods, organic, non-processed

- eat antibiotic and hormone-free meats, organic and grassfed when possible, no cold cuts, nitrates, etc.

- take probiotics daily. Jarrow sells a powder called babydophilus that you can apply right to the tongue

- eat healthy sources of protein. If you don't eat meat or eggs, try protein powders. Body Ecology Diet, Mercola and Jay Robb sells some good ones

- take omega-3s

- no vaccinations

- drink clean water that has been filtered

- avoid inhaling and/or touching pesticides, perfumes, chemicals from cleaning agents, etc. Switch to natural products like water and vinegar, baking soda, Seventh Generation, Shaklee, etc.

Also, Dr. O'hara did a presentation on this topic. I googled it before and found it. You may be able to find it or a similar presentation or paper on ARI's website autism.com. I also think Donna Gates has some info on this topic on the Body Ecology Diet website.

Best of luck.

- Dana

Does anyone know what I should do to ensure that a new baby doesn 't develope ASD. I took my amalgams out over a year ago. Should I avoid all seafood? What about dairy? I am not a big meat eater...just metballs and tacos. Confused. Thanks. I have one nearly recovered ASD son, 5.4 and one NT son, 3.7.

Also, avoid any common allergens from you, husband and children. No

flu shots either.

be ON the diet completely the whole time for you and baby, I did selenium to mop up any mercury so it doesn't settle in the placenta, did allergy IGE and IGG testing on both hubby and I and avoided anything that came back the same. shock to me to find out we were BOTH allergic to gluten, casein, soy and eggs
