Guest guest
Here's an easy, low cost remedy with no contraindications that really works well. Twice daily, before putting a sock on, use a Q- tip and get as much Vicks VapoRub under the toenail as possible. That mishapen nail will typically rise off the nail bed which will allow you to get the Vicks under the nail. Just do your best to get what you can under the nail. It doesn't burn, itch, or smell badly. The more consistent you are the better it works. This is an old home remedy I've known of for years but my daughter, whose a nursing student, said she's seen it on actual orders from podiatrists for nail fungus. Some would also say to drop some tea tree oil under the nail as it has antifungal (and antibiotic) qualities. It's got a strong scent though and I've not found it to be as effective as the Vicks. Soaking the toe in a high epsom salt concentration with several drops of tea tree oil added seems to help if it gets ingrown. Hope that helps, Gayle > > Has anyone else's child had fungal toenails...growing too think and > mishapen and tending to twd being ingrown...how to treat? Guest guest
If the fungus is still active you can stop the fungus and the damage by using the homeopathic remedy graphites 30. It dried my daughters long standing infection up in less than a month. I don't think it has fixed the toe nails, though. They may always be thick and damaged because the fungus injures the nail bed. I don't know it that part is permanent, but I think it is. I also agree that the epsom salt foot baths soak out an ingrown toe nail in a matter of days (soak twice per day). That's a lot easier than surgery! Laurie > > > > Has anyone else's child had fungal toenails...growing too think > and > > mishapen and tending to twd being ingrown...how to treat?
