Guest guest
those are safe in terms of toxicity but no guarantees they will be tolerated by any particular child. our son reacted negatively to super nuthera, probably 'cos of folinic in it. first negative was hyperactivity but after a couple of months use he became more and more distant, definite 'proper' regression. about 15-12% of children don't tolerate folinic. we also saw a terrible regression on calcium, it was ca citrate, not mag combination. when we first tried CLO it was not tolerated well, but a year later it was ok (we did SCD diet in them meantime plus several other things). now he is on 2 tsps a day and doing great. longer term vit C use in high doses can be a bit heard on the kidneys, and probably not a good idea if you suspect oxalate issues. hth natasa > > hi, > I am a newbie. Guest guest
I wouldn´t do that. I would just stay on gfcf diet, certainly I wouldn´t SNT if hyper. Any single thing that aparently could do nothing but good can be the wrong thing or the right one for each child. I would start only trying to watch for gut issues, I bet he has, and find the best diet for him, you can also do comprehensive stool test and food allergies. Enzymes can also help and won´t do bad. Be very strict about diet. Be patient, it takes time. Observe very much and carefully your son, you have to learn to see subtle signs, it´s advisable you keep records of what he eats, when and how he poops, how he sleeps, behave, etc You´ll need to be more informative about your son in order to get better help. Stay in this list, it´s been an unvaluable source of guidance for us. > > hi, > I am a newbie. My son is 26 months old, diagnised with autism. Guest guest
I have 2 kids on the spectrum and have been doing biomed for several years now. Looking at what you want to supplement, I would suggest GABA for the hyperactivity. Most ASD kids that are hyper are low in the calming neurotransmitter GABA, and too high in glutamate which is excitatory. Try to eliminate as much glutamate as possible like MSG, which is in just about everything now a days. GABA has done wonders for my kids. I would hold off on the calcium. Too much calcium can combine with the glutamate to cause even more hyperactivity. The magnesium is great. Several probiotics(good bacteria) would also be a good start, as would digestive enzymes with every meal. I know a lot of people use the Super Nu Thera, we do not. It has too much vitamin B6 for my kids. It also causes them to be hyper. We did genetics from Dr. Amy Yasko and have tailored our supplement program to their specific genetics. It has been the best thing that has happened to our kids so far. Hope this helps, > > > > hi, > > I am a newbie. Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to say Hi and wish you good luck on your new journey! I have a six yr. old with autism (we've been chelating with td dmps for two years, mineral supp's (cal/mag, zinc). We give two Kirkmans ProbioGold probiotic (two have 40 billion good bacteria). We use Mb12 and Folic Acid sublingual drops (pretty much tasteless) from AMT pharmacy, also.We saw him learn to pedal his tricycle with nothing more than those two, before we even started chelating. (prior to that we'd been trying to teach him for two summers). We've tried Oxytocin Nasal Spray (seemed to help socially). Of course, he is also hyperactive (my older son has adhd) but the two things, autism and adhd are on the same continuum, so they show many similarities. Gaba sublinguals smashed into powder melt really well in his drink and seem to help with that. Cod liver oil is also supposed to be great and necessary for kids with adhd/autism (we just found a good one at a local health food store...it's DHA chewables...looks like a vitamin e kind of...and I am starting both my boys on 1,000 mg (that's what is recommended) to see if it helps.(they taste terrible though, so they will swallow them with a drink). I have heard from lots of parents it can work wonders. My son is now talkative, loving, social and almost indistinguishable from his peers right now. The people who can tell are his one on one aides/teachers for ABA....because academics is really tough for him. I have never seen one bad reaction or side effect....I have never seen a rash, diarrhea, vomiting, nothing...the only thing I think may be happening is that the chelator stirs up the yeast he has, making the yeasty symptoms worse (ADHD). I just took him off the Td DMPS and am trying a natural alternative called Natural Cellular Defense. I have heard some pretty great things about it and we just started yesterday. I hope all this info helps you a little, if you would ever like to write or have questions about any of these things, feel free to write to me. , Toledo, OH, mom to Austin (recovering from heavy metal poisoning...
